Fire Destroys Mobile Home Near South Prairie
The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 26000 block of Johns Road East, between the towns of South Prairie and Wilkeson.

East Pierce Fire and Rescue and Orting Valley Fire and Rescue responded to a single-wide mobile home fire late Tuesday night.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Russ McCallion, the fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. in the 26000 block of Johns Road East, between the towns of South Prairie and Wilkeson.
When the firefighters arrived, two-thirds of the mobile home was already engulfed in flames.

Because there were no fire hydrants nearby, firefighters used tenders to shuttle water to the blaze.
While no one was injured in the fire, the home was determined to be a total loss, according to Pierce County Fire Marshal Rod Lasher.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
