Franciscan Health to Build Medical Pavilion in Bonney Lake
Today, Franciscan Health announced plans for a 45,000 sq. foot facility that will feature an urgent care center and primary health services.
Today, Franciscan Health System announced plans to break ground on a medical office building in Bonney Lake later this year.
The 45,000 sq. foot facility will house physicians offices, an urgent care medical clinic and outpatient services. It will be located on SR 410 and 184th Street, near the Sky Island Drive traffic intersection. Construction is planned for late summer or early autumn and the building is slated to open in fall of 2012.
““This will definitely have a positive effect on the city. We’ve been growing and haven’t really had any type of [medical] facility in this area, it would definitely fill a need,” said Lora Butterfield, executive director of the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce. “It’s in the perfect area for high visibility and will help the downtown area grow.”

In addition to primary health services for children and adults, the facility will house a laboratory, diagnostic imaging and other ancillary outpatient services. They are planning a 200-car parking lot to support it.
The project developer is Rush Commercial, a Gig Harbor company. Franciscan and Rush will co-own the building, with Franciscan as primary tenant. The two companies are in similar arrangements with the Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Canyon Road in Puyallup and the Port Orchard Medical Clinic in Kitsap County.

There are no design plans for the facility yet; Franciscan said they are in the process of selecting an architect.
The facility will compliment St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw, which just opened last month. That facility serves the Bonney Lake, Buckley, Black Diamond and surrounding communities. Franciscan also has hospitals in Tacoma, Federal Way, Lakewood and Gig Harbor, plus a network of primary and specialty care clinics and providers in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties.
“This facility will provide exciting opportunities for us to better serve the residents of Bonney Lake, Sumner and other communities in east Pierce County,” said Franciscan Chief Operating Officer Cliff Robertson, MD. “They will enjoy convenient access to high-quality medical services, closer to their homes.”
Multicare is also building a medical facility in Bonney Lake that will house Sound Family Medicine, Wood Creek Pediatrics and Diagnostic Imaging, among other specialty and primary care options. That three story, 58,000 sq. foot building is to be located behind Albertsons and plans to open this summer.
