Man Found in Burning Truck Committed Suicide

The Pierce County Medical Examiner and Bonney Lake Police department have determined that the man found dead in a burning truck last week committed suicide.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner and Bonney Lake Police determined committed suicide and died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The unidentified man lit charcoal briquettes in his truck and died after ingesting the fumes, said Police Chief Mike Mitchell. The briquettes caught fire in the truck after they made contact with the rubber floor mats, causing the car fire.

It took police a while to identify the man in the car, which they finally did through dental records. Mitchell declined to release his name or age. Mitchell did say that the man was renting a room in the Bonney Lake home on the 8400 block of 181st Avenue East, where he was found in the driveway.
