Man Hit Over Head with Bottle at Swiss Sportsman Club Park

Bonney Lake Police responded to a fight at Swiss Sportsman Park on Sun., June 26, where a man was hit over the head with a bottle.

On Sunday, June 26, Bonney Lake police were dispatched to a fight at , where one man was treated for head injuries after someone hit him over the head with a glass bottle during a party. However, reports from guests were so varied that no arrests were made, said the Bonney Lake police report.

The party had at least 100 guests and when police arrived, they contacted a man who was being treated for a one-inch cut on his forehead by East Pierce Fire and Rescue.

The man spoke only broken English and was visibly intoxicated – he told police he had been hit over the head with a bottle by his Maple Valley neighbor, who attacked him on the dance floor for no reason. The man told police his assilant tried to sell him a 'green card' on multiple occasions, but that he loved 'this country' and tried to contact police. The report says the man appeared so intoxicated that he could barely stand up.

While police interviewed the man, a 15 year-old male approached them and admitted to hitting the man over the head with the bottle. He said that the man approached him and punched him in the face, unprovoked. He said he was afraid and quickly grabbed a bottle from the table and struck the man in the head to defend himself.

When police opened the back of the ambulance so the injured man could make a positive ID, he told police that the boy didn’t hit him – his stepfather did. The boy became upset and said the man was lying. The stepfather was contacted, and he also spoke limited English but told police he was the not the assailant.

There were multiple other subjects on scene who gave conflicting accounts of what occurred. The injured man was not able to fill out a Witness Statement Form due to his level of intoxication.

All parties were released from the scene. Due to the conflicting reports and levels of intoxication in the group, officers felt there was not enough probable cause to make an arrest.
