Outgoing Bonney Lake Council Members Recognized for Civic Service

Laurie Carter and Dan Decker were applauded for the work they did during their time on Bonney Lake's city council.

Two outgoing councilmembers were recognized for their service to the Bonney Lake community and presented with plaques at the Dec. 13 council meeting.

Dan Decker and Laurie Carter are both stepping down from their posts as city council members. Both served one term.

Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson lauded Carter’s sharp proof-reading, passion for charity fundraising and for bringing a sense of diversity to the otherwise all-male council.

“You have inspired people to step up… you are impactful and inspiring to me,” said Johnson. “We have six white guys so it’s nice to have that diversity. To be the only female councilmember is difficult… but I wish we could have six more like you.”

Johnson thanked Decker for being a team player and for putting Bonney Lake’s interests at the forefront of his decision-making.

“Decker definitely has his opinions and the things he likes and dislikes, but I have appreciated his view very much,” said Johnson. “During the time I’ve worked with him, I’ve had no complaints.”

In 2012, will replace Carter as councilmember 5.will replace Decker as councilmember 7.
