Boundary Review Board Denies Bonney Lake’s Plans for Annexation
In a 4-0 vote, county officials decided to vote no to Bonney Lake's proposed annexation.

The Boundary Review Board rejected by a 4-0 vote today after hearing testimony from both Bonney Lake and Pierce County.
Both sides were allowed to present their arguments before the Board and neutral parties also gave input at the 10 a.m. meeting; in the end, Bonney Lake is back to the drawing board with their plans to annex over 7,000 people into the city limits.
In a 29-page brief, the County laid out their reasons against annexation, which included Bonney Lake’s failure to include the proposed annexation area in their Comprehensive and Capital Facilities Plans.

The City of Bonney Lake can present their proposed annexation to the County again next year, but the city is beginning to form plans for an appeal.
"It's not over yet," said Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson at the March 8 city council meeting.
