Rapper Nelly Arrested On Sexual Assault Accusation In Washington: Police

The alleged sexual assault occurred on a tour bus, police said.

AUBURN, WA — Rapper Nelly was arrested in Auburn early Saturday morning after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by the singer on a tour bus, police said.

Police in Auburn said a woman called 911 to report she was sexually assaulted by Nelly around 3:48 a.m. The alleged sexual assault occurred on ta tour bus that was parked outside the 700 block of Outlet Collection Drive.

Nelly, who is on tour with Florida Georgia Line, had performed at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn Friday night.

Police said Nelly was taken into custody around 4:40 a.m. No further information was provided by police and authorities are continuing to investigate.

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was scheduled to perform in Ridgefield, Washington, on Saturday night.

Nelly's attorney, Scott Rosenblum, called the rape claim a "completely fabricated allegation."

"Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation," Rosenblum said in an email to The Associated Press.

Nelly is a three-time Grammy winner, including for the song "Hot in Herre."
