Seven Car Pileup, Car Fire Reported After Snowfall
While East Pierce Fire and Rescue did respond to weather-related incidents, the call volume last night was low, even on a typical day.

Snow and ice are blamed for a seven-car pileup at Sumner-Buckley Highway and 214th Ave E. in Bonney Lake on Wednesday evening.
According to East Pierce Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jay Adams, the low-speed crash resulted in fender bender-type damage to the vehicles.
Around 5:46 a.m. this morning, there were a couple falls and a rollover accident on West Valley Avenue. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters also responded to a vehicle fire on the 1700 block of 16th St. in Sumner. A resident started his van in his driveway and returned into the house; a passerby knocked on his door and informed him it was on fire.
Despite the snow, East Pierce only saw a slight increase in 911 call volume throughout the evening. There were 30 calls during a 24-hour period for the entire district, compared to the average call volume of 27 to 28 calls a day.
