Sumner 2021 Election Results: Mayor, City Council
Sumner has been asked to elect a mayor and three city council members this election. Here's a first look at the preliminary results.

SUMNER, WA — The polls closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday for the 2021 November General Election in Washington.
This year's election contained a number of high-profile races in Pierce County, determining who will be the next mayor in Tacoma, Buckley, Bonney Lake, and Eatonville, who will fill two Port of Tacoma Commissioner positions, and deciding nearly two dozen city council positions, including in Lakewood, Gig Harbor and Puyallup.
Voters in East Pierce County, including in Sumner and Bonney Lake, have also been asked to approve a levy lid lift to help support East Pierce Fire & Rescue, and six school districts — Puyallup, University Place, Dieringer, Clover Park, Peninsula, Bethel, and Eatonville — had candidates on the ballot.

Now that the polls have closed, the first ballot drop for the November 2021 General Election has been released, and will be updated over the coming days. According to state election data, less than 20 percent of the county's 555,000 registered voters had returned their ballots by Tuesday evening, but officials project voter turnout will hit around 39 percent by the time every ballot is counted.
In Washington, ballots are tabulated each day following the election, and percentages will continue to change in the days ahead. Results are final upon certification by the Secretary of State's office, due by Thursday, Dec. 2.
