Indecent Exposure

2:08pm: Officers arrived at the 900 block of Valley Ave. for a report of indecent exposure at the Sumner Food Center.

The victim was shaken up and had obviously been crying. She said she was at Sumner Food Center and the man bumped into her. She walked away and began using the ATM machine when she noticed the man behind her again; he motioned that he wanted to go into the small hallway behind her, where there were magazines and videos. He went in the hallway, got a magazine, reached into his jeans and began to masturbate on it, staring at her the whole time and making weird faces. She was very alarmed and ran out of the store. The woman said the man followed her outside and that’s when she got in her car and called police.

Police were familiar with the man, who was dressed in camouflage and standing across the street from Jack in the Box when police found him. He was arrested for indecent exposure.

DUI, Single-Car Accident

5:01pm: A woman called to report a car traveling southbound on Sumner-Tapps Highway that swerved off the road and hit a little sign stuck in the ground.

Officers pulled over the vehicle in the Sumner High School swimming pool parking lot.

The man told police he didn’t know why they were pulling him over – he just got off work and was picking up his daughter from swimming practice. He had a difficult time getting his license out of his wallet and didn’t have any insurance papers. Officers smelled intoxicants and noticed he was very flushed. There was a scuffmark on the front passenger side consistent with light impact.

They asked if he had been drinking, and he admitted that he had one beer two hours prior, but told officers he had “glout” and had trouble standing. When officers asked if he meant “gout,” he said, “yeah, that.”

He performed poorly on the sobriety tests and registered a BAC of .225 but continued to insist to officers the reason he performed poorly on the tests was due to his “glout.” The man was concerned that his daughter would be leaving swimming practice soon and she needed a ride home. A friend from her team offered to take her. He was arrested for DUI.
