Police identified two suspects from the school surveillance cameras and was able to identify them from previous run-ins with law enforcement – they were brothers; one had been connected to a recent car prowl in Renton. The surveillance footage showed the two juvenile men stuff items in their pockets and enter and leave the locker room numerous times during the game.
Officers paid their residence a visit and spoke with their mother, who said that her teenage sons had been smoking crack and both were mentally disabled. She woke up the boys, who approached officers wearing the same clothes caught on surveillance earlier that day.

The two firmly denied being involved in any locker thefts but when officers talked to the two separately, one admitted that the other had stolen the items.
Two missing cell phones were located in their room, plus cash and an iPod Touch. The mother said she would tear their room apart and contact police if she found anything else that had been stolen. Charges were forwarded for followup at Remann Hall.

Burglary, Attempted Car Theft
11:05pm: A man called Sumner police after he saw two men cut through the locked fence of Sumner High School’s Auto Shop with a hack saw. He was standing on his porch having a cigarette and said they were still inside the gate walking around.
Officers arrived and approached the men, who had screw drivers in their pockets and were wearing gloves and dark clothing.
One of the men first told police they were just looking for scrap metal but then the other admitted they were there to steal a green Toyota and take it for a joy ride. The car had no plates and had been donated to the Sumner Auto Shop. The men were able to get into the car but couldn’t get it started, he said.
Both were charged with burglary 2nd degree and possession of burglar tools.
Car Prowl
1:43am: An officer responded to Sunset Chevrolet for a report of an interrupted vehicle prowl. The security guard told police he was patrolling the lot with his dog when he heard glass breaking from the lot on the east side of Traffic Ave. He went to investigate and encountered five males in their 20s surrounding a gold Chevy Tahoe.
They had busted the drivers side window with a tire iron and were in the process of removing the front passenger side wheel from the vehicle. One of the men pushed the security guard in his chest and punched him in the face before the group scattered. Some piled into a minivan and the assailant ran down the street.
Police took his information and provided him with a case number and left the scene. There are no suspects at this time.
