Sumner Police: Drunk Driver Over Four Times the Legal Limit Hits Parked Car at Fred Meyer, Stolen Yard Tools and More

JULY 22, 2012

  • A woman reported to police that her 45-year-old daughter had been assaulted by her boyfriend while staying at his mobile home in Sumner. The woman said her boyfriend got upset when she mentioned she was considering a job out of the area. He punched her twice in the face and threatened her not to call the police. He was arrested for domestic assault.

JULY 23, 2012

  • A man reported that someone stole a leaf blower and lawn mower from his shed on 54th St. Ct. E.
  • A woman called police to report she saw a car strike a yellow cement pole before turning into the Fred Meyer parking lot. Police found it crooked in a parking spot and a 55-year-old woman passed out in the drivers seat. Her car was still in drive and her foot was on the brake. When police asked for her drivers license, she tried to hand them a pack of cigarettes and a credit card before realizing what they were asking for. She told police she thought she was in Auburn and admitted to drinking. Her blood alcohol level was over four times the legal limit. Officers discovered she struck another vehicle in the parking lot before parking her car across two stalls. There was no damage to the yellow pole. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being booked in jail for DUI.Β

  • A resident on the 1500 block of Bonney Avenue called to report a dispute with his apartment neighbor. He told police there were a lot of people going in and out of the man’s apartment and figured it had something to do with drugs. He said the neighbor got angry with him and threatened him with a stick. The men were yelling at each other during the police interview but there was no criminal activity noted. They agreed to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.

  • A woman reported that her weed eater had been stolen from a shed in her backyard, which was fenced.

  • A man was arrested on the 15400 block of Bowman Hilton Road for DUI. An off-duty firefighter noticed him driving erratically and strike a curb on River Road. The driver said he was β€œinsanely tired” and had just gotten off work. He admitted to taking some hydrocodone before driving that was prescribed to him. He was arrested for DUI.
