Sumner's Stafford Suites Celebrates National Pancake Day
Stafford Suites celebrated National Pancake Day -- otherwise known as Fat Tuesday -- in style.
Most everyone knows that the last Tuesday before Lent is Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras. It is also known as Shrove Tuesday. But, not everyone knows that it is also National Pancake Day. It is celebrated because tradition has it that one must clear out the last of the butter, eggs and milk in the larder before the Lenten fast begins — all the ingredients you would need for a batch of pancakes.
Stafford Suites celebrates by having a wonderful pancake breakfast which is cooked by our special guest, Battalion Chief Rick Goetz with East Pierce Fire and Rescue.
Chief Goetz comes back each year to help despite the fact that Stafford’s Program Director, Patti Salter always finds a silly addition to his uniform. Last year it was a very frilly apron. This year he sported a lovely bikini apron.
