Sumner Seeks Applicants To Fill City Council Vacancy

Applicants must have lived in the city for at least one year and be a registered voter.

SUMNER, WA — Ever wanted to try your hand at politics? The city of Sumner is hoping someone does, so they can fill a vacancy on city council for most of next year.

From Dec. 14 through Jan. 12, Sumner will be accepting applications to be the next Sumner City Council Member. To qualify, an applicant must:

  • Have lived in the City of Sumner for at least one year.
  • Be a registered voter.

Applicants who make it through the first round of submissions will be invited to talk with the council on the week of January 18, after which the council will vote on their new member.

Whoever wins the majority of the vote will be appointed to Sumner City Council for just under a year — the term will expire on Dec. 31, 2021.

Anyone who is qualified and interested just needs to fill out the Council Vacancy Application 2020. Completed applications can be emailed to City Clerk Michelle Converse or sent by mail to 1104 Maple Street, Sumner WA 98390.
