Washington Reports 310 New Coronavirus Cases

0 new coronavirus deaths were reported Monday, though that may be because of a new DOH policy excluding the death toll from weekend updates.

SEATTLE — Washington reported 310 new, laboratory-confirmed cases of the coronavirus Monday.

The latest update did not include a single new confirmed death due to the coronavirus, but that may be because of a new DOH policy to no longer update the death toll over the weekends, which may have applied for the Labor Day holiday as well.

A three-day span without a single coronavirus death to report is unlikely: data from the DOH shows Washington state has not had a single zero-death day since February 22nd. If it is the case that the death toll was not updated because of the holiday weekend, expect elevated death tolls over the next few days to compensate for the lack of updates over the long weekend.

A total of 1,573,044 coronavirus tests have been performed since the pandemic began, meaning around 4.9 percent come back positive. That's slightly lower than recent weeks, and a step toward's the state's goal of having fewer than 2 percent of tests be positive.
