2017 Supermoon: Will Weather Cooperate For Viewing In Enumclaw?

ENUMCLAW, WA - The only supermoon of 2017 will happen Sunday night, but us Pacific Northwest residents might never know it. A supermoon is the closest the moon gets to Earth, making our planet's satellite appear huge in the sky and nearly 17 percent brighter.

We can always hope for a weather miracle, but our viewing chances aren't looking so great, or at least not totally clear. Here's the weekend forecast from the National Weather Service:

Saturday: Showers. Steady temperature around 41. East wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Showers, mainly before 4am. Low around 37. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Light east southeast wind.
