5 Super Athletes With Ties To Enumclaw
Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to celebrate five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting impression on our community.

Sports have a way of teaching invaluable life lessons — building character, fostering teamwork and strengthening the bonds within a community. In the Enumclaw area, these values have shaped some truly remarkable athletes from different eras, whose accomplishments continue to inspire.
Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to spotlight five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting mark on our community. While this list is just a snapshot, there are countless others who have helped shape the rich sports culture in our area.
1. Alison Mandi (Sport)
A 2002 graduate of Enumclaw High School, Alison Mandi (formerly Tubbs) stands as one of the school’s most decorated distance runners. As a senior, she posted a then-national-best 10:11 in the 3200m — also the state record — and led the nation in cross country with victories like the Great American Cross Country Championship. Named an All-American in high school, Mandi competed for the University of Washington, where she achieved top marks in events including the 5K and 10K. She was inducted into the EHS Hall of Fame in 2020.

2. Marcie Morgan (Downhill Skater)
An Enumclaw mother who discovered her passion for high-speed skateboarding in her 40s, Marcie Morgan took up downhill skating after her teenage son taught her the basics. She quickly became one of the country’s top competitors and soon ranked sixth among U.S. women. In 2017, Morgan founded Seven Seals Racing to support female and underrepresented gravity-sports athletes. At 42, she became the oldest woman to qualify for Women’s Downhill at the World Skate Games.
3. Jill (Callero) Mestler (Track & Field)
A graduate of Enumclaw High School, Jill (Callero) Mestler was a distance standout, capping her prep career by winning the 3,200 meters at the state championships. She continued to shine at the University of Oregon, contributing to the Ducks’ cross-country and track programs — placing as high as third in the Pac-10’s 10,000-meter event. She earned degrees in exercise physiology and teaching and has since coached at the high school and community levels, leading runners of all ages.

4. Kasey Kahne (Stock Car Racer)
Enumclaw’s Kasey Kahne became one of NASCAR’s most recognizable drivers of the 2000s and 2010s. After early success in sprint car racing around the Pacific Northwest, Kahne transitioned to NASCAR, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2004. He collected 18 Cup Series victories — including three Coca-Cola 600 wins — and drove for prominent teams like Evernham Motorsports and Hendrick Motorsports before retiring in 2018. Today, Kahne remains active in sprint car racing as both a driver and owner.
5. Katya Case (Golf)
A 2012 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) champion, Enumclaw native Katya Case headlined Bellevue College’s women’s golf program, capturing individual medalist honors and leading the Bulldogs to their first team title. She transferred to Western Washington University, where she continued her standout collegiate career known for her powerful swing and consistent play.
