Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Strikes In Central Cascades

The earthquake was measured around 6 a.m. Sunday.

ENUMCLAW, WA - A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck in the central Cascades early Sunday morning, although preliminary reports indicate no shaking was felt in Western Washington.

The quake was centered about 8 miles south of Cle Ellum in a rugged section of the Cascades near Case Knife Creek. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, residents of Cle Ellum reported shaking; residents of Ellensburg, Leavenworth, and Wenatchee also felt some shaking.

The Sunday morning quake is the second notable earthquake in Washington this week. On Wednesday night, a magnitude 4.2 struck in central Puget Sound near Belfair, about 34 miles west of Seattle. There were also two relatively strong quakes off of Vancouver Island this week.
