Maple Valley City Council is recruiting individuals

MV Planning Commissioners Needed

The Maple Valley City Council is recruiting individuals who are interested in serving in the capacity of Planning Commissioners or Alternate Planning Commissioners. The duties of the Planning Commissioner include attending meetings and making recommendations to City Council on land use issues and revision to the Development Regulations in the City of Maple Valley. The Alternate Planning Commissioner must also attend meetings so that he/she will be prepared to fill an unanticipated vacancy. The Planning Commission meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month, with occasional special meetings and workshops.

In order to qualify for this appointment, individuals must be residents of, or own property in, the City of Maple Valley. Persons should have an interest in environmental affairs, planning, land use, and residential and commercial development as evidenced by training, experience, or actions. The term of office for a Planning Commissioner is four years and for an Alternate Planning Commissioner it is two years. If the event an Alternate Planning Commissioner fills a Planning Commissioner vacancy, their term may be extended for up to four years.

The deadline for those wishing to be considered is Friday, December 18, 2015, 5:00 p.m. Applicant interviews will be scheduled shortly thereafter. The appointments to the Planning Commission are tentative, pending the November 2015 Election certified results.
