New Annual Hometown Holidays Community Holiday Event
Maple Valley Town Square at 4 Corners is the new location for Maple Valley’s annual community holiday tree lighting event. After several years at Lake Wilderness Lodge the event is being moved to a more central and public location. The City of Maple Valley has purchased a living tree and is working with Powell Development Company to have it planted in the SE corner plaza for all to see during the holiday and year-around.
Maple Valley Hometown Holidays is the new name and the fun will happen on Thursday, December 3 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The official tree lighting ceremony and Mayor’s welcome will kick off the season and the evening’s festivities.

Once the beautiful new official community holiday tree is lit the magic will begin throughout the business community. The public will find something fun, tasty or creative things to do at many of the area participating merchants. The wide variety of fun activities featured will include live entertainment from the Rainier Youth Choir and Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, craft tents and activity booths for the kiddies along with photo opportunities with Santa himself at Fire Station #80. Also adding to the fun will be several trackless train rides through the different parking lots. They will be departing from in front of Johnson’s Home and Garden and Fred Meyer about every 10 minutes. Many shops and businesses will have hot cider or chocolate and plenty of candy and cookies to snack on too. Please bring an unwrapped toy or canned food item to support the Maple Valley Food Bank!
Everyone is invited to play the Merry Merchant Game and win some incredible prizes. As players take in the many holiday sales and specials offered throughout the area business districts (not just at 4 Corners) they will look for the posted Merchant Game codes and write it on their game piece. When completed, simply turn it into the drop box at Johnson’s Home & Garden before Sunday, December 6 at 7 p.m. Winning game cards will be drawn from all successfully completed and signed game cards. Game cards will be available at each participating store and online at maplevalleywa.gov or maplevalleychamber.org on November 30.
