GHPD Accepting Bids for Power Boat 'Contessa'

The Gig Harbor Police Department will be auctioning the 1969 Fairliner 27-foot power vessel, "Contessa", by sealed bid.

Police seized the . According to authorities, the boat posed as a hazard to the environment since it contained petroleum and was slowly taking on water.

The vessel may be viewed at the where it will be secured until the auction is finalized.

Sealed bids must be submitted to the City Clerk, , 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor and shall be received no later than 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13. Sealed bids must include the amount of the bid, and the name, address, and phone number of the bidder.

The auction will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at noon in the lobby of the Gig Harbor Civic Center.

The successful bidder must:

  • Provide payment of the final accepted bid offer within 2 business days of the awarded bid. Payment must be made in cash or certified funds such as a cashier’s check or money order.
  • Legally remove the vessel from the City Dock within 5 business days of the awarded bid and may not anchor the vessel in the confines of Gig Harbor.
  • Apply for a vessel title within 15 days of the awarded bid.
