Gig Harbor Parks Appreciation Day Arrives In April

The partnership event with KeyPen Parks & PenMet Parks are seeking volunteers for the annual clean up event on April 22 from 9 am – 12 noon.

From the City of Gig Harbor: The public is invited to volunteer and get involved in Parks Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 22nd. Residents from around the Greater Gig Harbor area will come together for the annual clean up event scheduled from 9am – 12 noon.

Always a favorite day in Gig Harbor, Parks Appreciation Day, sponsored by Columbia Bank, is an opportunity to show your love of all our local parks by giving back to the earth. PenMet Parks, KeyPen Parks and the City of Gig Harbor all work together to beautify and maintain our treasured park lands annually in April. The event is a fun opportunity for all ages to volunteer. Families, groups or individuals are all encouraged to join in and help plant, prune, push, pull and play! Volunteers should wear appropriate clothes and shoes for the season and weather. There is no need to pre-register. Simply visit one of the sites listed below to help the groups, or drop by your favorite park or school for some cleanup:

  • Harbor Family Park, 70th Ave and 32nd St NW
  • Sehmel Homestead Park, 10123 - 78th Ave. NW
  • Narrows Park, 1600 Lucille Pkwy NW
  • Rotary Bark Park, 10200 Bujacich Rd NW, So. of Fire Sta.
  • Volunteer Park, 5514 Key Peninsula Highway N.
  • Rocky Creek Conservation Area, SR 302 at 150th Ave on Crews Road
  • Home Park, 213th Ave CT KPN
  • Kopachuck State Park, 10712 56th St NW
  • Key Peninsula Civic Center, 17010 South Vaughn Road

Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, shears, loppers, pruners, mattocks/pulaskis, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and be sure to label them. It is not required to bring items, you can simply volunteer. In addition, a hotdog lunch will be provided at noon for workers at Sehmel Homestead Park or Gateway Park. See you at the park on Saturday, April 22nd!
