Gig Harbor Teen Makes Final Push Before Setting Off to Sea

The Gig Harbor teen has raised more than $2,000 so far. The reception event will be on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Before the big event, the 17-year-old will be hosting a send-off reception at the on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. It will feature several guest speakers, and guests are invited to sign Busey’s sail for a donation to the cause.

The teen was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2007. He said he hopes this project will raise not only funds but also awareness of these diseases, which affect approximately 1.4 million Americans.

Busey has currently raised more than $2,200 and is hoping to reach the target of $10,000.
