Last Day of School Moved to June 21

Due to the recent weather-related closures, the Peninsula School District said its students will finish school on June 21 this year.

The canceled 3 days of school due to the recent snowstorm in Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula. As a result, the PSD announced some adjustments to its academic calendar on its website Monday.

Here are the changes:

  • The end of first semester, originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27, has been moved to Wednesday, Feb. 1.
  • Second semester will begin on Thursday, Feb. 2. The end of middle school second trimester, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 15, has been moved to Tuesday, March 20.
  • The third trimester begins on Wednesday, March 21.
  • Three snow days were built into the calendar and they will be used to make up for days missed: Friday, March 16, Wednesday, June 20, and Thursday, June 21.

"There have been a few questions asked about "State of Emergency" and the opportunity to waive make up days. This has been done only in rare circumstances in the past and, at this time, we do not anticipate that it will apply to our most recent snow closures. However, if anything changes, we will keep you informed," the District wrote on its website.
