GIG HARBOR, WA β€” A Sequim woman has been arrested, and is accused of trying to mail drugs to prisoners held inside the Women’s Correctional Center for Women (WCCW), in Gig Harbor, the Clallam County Sheriff's Office reported.

The suspect, 33-year-old Marie Haller, was arrested Wednesday. Her arrest came after a monthslong investigation, which began in November 2021. That's when Department of Corrections officers intercepted two packages they believe contained Suboxone, a Schedule III controlled substance, which had been mailed to a pair of inmates in the WCCW. The DOC called in the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET) for assistance, who had the packages tested and discovered traces of Buprenorphine, the opioid contained in Suboxone.

After interviewing inmates and investigating further, detectives say they determined Haller was behind the packages, and arrested her on charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Introducing Contraband in the 2nd Degree. Both are class C felonies in Washington, and punishable with up to 5 years in prison or $10,000 in fines.
