.ย Renew your crush on your local library.ย Prevent โ€œsummer brain drainโ€ by taking advantage of ย Kirkland Library'sย summer reading programs and storytime sessions. Grafton Public Library has events scheduled nearly every weekday after school ends for the year.

.ย Blow some bubbles.ย Bubble wands are the best summer boredom busters for toddlers. If you have kids six or younger, acquire a giant bubble wand set from theย Majicย Bubble Wand company.

.ย Start a lemonade stand.ย Let your kids run a business while fighting cancer this summer by having a neighborhood lemonade stand. Have your kids sell lemonade and baked goods and donate the proceeds toย Alexโ€™s Lemonade Stand.ย (Or support community lemonade fundraisers by visiting Simplicity Decor on Saturdays)

.ย Go to an outdoor concert or a movie.ย Catch anย outdoor concert for kids at Juanita this summer. And don't forget toย check out the $1 Summer Movie Express programย for kids on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at your local Regal Cinema.

.ย Visit your local museums.ย Many museums, such asย BAMย offer a monthlyย โ€œFreeโ€ day with free admission and special activities for kids.ย

.ย Create an invention box.ย Toss some wire, recycled cans and bottles, pipe cleaners, kid-appropriate tools and other items into an โ€œinvention boxโ€ to have on hand when kids get bored. Author Nancy Blakeyโ€™s booksย Go Outside!: Over 130 Activities for Outdoor Adventuresย andย More Mudpies: 101 Alternatives to Televisionย have other great ideas for low-cost boredom busters and โ€œactivity kitsโ€ you can put together to have on hand. Youโ€™ll find them on Amazon.com and bookstores in the area.

.ย Put on a show!ย Toss leftover Halloween costumes, masks, dress-up clothes, shoes and hats in a box with some potential props and tell your kids to come up with a play. Theyโ€™ll love performing for you. You can find great items for a dress-up box at all sorts of thrift stores.

.ย Go on an adventure.ย Meagan Buckmaster-Ross, aย Duvall, WA mom of four and author of the blogย An Adventure Every Day, frequently creates โ€œday trip adventuresโ€ for her kids. Pick some interesting places to explore that are an hour or less drive from your house. You can help your kids remember their adventures, says Buckmaster-Ross, by encouraging them to take photos andย draw the interesting things they see. Her 7-year-old already has her own sketchbook, and her older siblings have kept journals for years.

.ย Have fun in and on the water.ย Go swimming atย Peter Kirkย Park,ย where the Redmond Pool is located.ย ย Rent a canoe or kayak together as a family and enjoy our beautiful waterways.
