132nd Square Park Renovations Enter Next Phase
Ongoing renovations closed the western portion of the park Wednesday as crews prepare to remove and replace dozens of trees.

KIRKLAND, WA โ The next phase of renovations is underway at Kirkland's 132nd Square Park, with new closures in place as the construction zone expands. According to the city, contractors with Allied Construction closed off the western portion of the park Wednesday and are preparing to remove 89 trees in the coming weeks. They will be replaced in the spring by 115 new trees, the city said.
Crews began an overhaul of the park in the summer, and remain on track to complete the project by next summer. The revamped park will feature a new stormwater management system, which will treat water runoff and help improve the quality of waterways between Kingsgate and Lake Washington. The renovation also includes a brand new synthetic turf field, which will be lit and better equipped for play during all seasons.
The park is also getting a new playground, a new restroom and a larger parking and drop-off zone.

While the new closure blocks access to the old playground, the outfield and softball field will remain open during construction.
