Changes Coming to Bus Routes Serving Kirkland

Several Metro and Sound Transit routes will undergo service revisions this weekend.

Changes are right around the corner for several bus routes operated by King County Metro and Sound Transit.

Both agencies will be revising a handful of routes beginning this weekend, June 8-9. The changes include the following routes serving Kirkland:

  • Metro route 245:ย On weekdays, four southbound trips to Factoria leaving the Kirkland Transit Center atย 12:03 a.m. and 6:14 a.m., andย 6:14 p.m. and 6:44 p.m.ย will be discontinued. Four northbound trips to Kirkland leaving Factoria atย 6:31 a.m. and 6:08,ย 6:38 and 7:08 p.m.ย will also be discontinued. On weekends, one southbound trip leaving the Kirkland Transit Center atย 11:55 p.m.ย will be discontinued. The Regional Mobility grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation that funded these trips will expire onย June 30.

  • Metro route 265:ย One westbound trip to downtown Seattle leaving the Houghton Park-and-Ride at8:33 a.m.ย and one eastbound trip to the Houghton Park-and-Ride leaving 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street atย 5:39 p.m.ย will be discontinued. In mid-July, when the new parking garage at the South Kirkland Park-and-Ride is expected to be finished, the westbound trip leaving the Houghton Park-and-Ride atย 9:13 a.m.ย and the eastbound trip leaving 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street atย 6:19 p.m.ย will also be discontinued.
Updated Metro schedules are now available for riders to pick upย (look for the green brochure pictured above).ย An online version will go liveย this Friday, June 7.

This weekend's Metro changes are part of a routine update, but that the agency says it is stillย prepared to cut up to 17 percent of its service startingย in the fall of 2014 if a funding source is not identified.
