DelBene Appointed to House Judiciary Committee

The newly elected Congresswoman represents Washington's 1st District, which stretches from Redmond to the Canadian border.

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (D-WA) has received her first committee assignment for the 113thย Congress and will be serving on the House Judiciary Committee.

As part of the Judiciary Committee, DelBene will be at the center of a number of issues important to the residents of Washingtonโ€™s 1stย district including protecting civil liberties, tackling immigration reform and intellectual property law. The committee also has oversight responsibilities for the Departments of Justice.

โ€œIโ€™m honored to serve on the House Judiciary Committee and represent Washingtonโ€™s 1stย District,โ€ said DelBene. โ€œServing on this committee will give me an opportunity to bring my experience in the private sector to help deliver real reforms on issues that will have a lasting impact on the residents of the district. Whether itโ€™s ensuring our policies and laws keep up with our fast moving, innovative technology and manufacturing industries or tackling immigrationย reform that will grow our economy and expand opportunity for working families, I am eager to get to work.โ€

Prior to being elected to Congress, DelBeneย served as head of the Washington State Department of Revenue, where she oversaw more than 1,000 employees. Previously,ย DelBeneย pursued a successful career in business, working as an executive at Microsoft, and in biotech, technology and microfinance.ย
