Earlier Trash Pickups For Some This Week, Due To Heat

Some Eastside customers should expect Waste Management earlier than usual, allowing drivers to finish work before temperatures peak.

KIRKLAND, WA โ€” With several days of high heat in the forecast, trash pickup may start a little earlier in some communities to allow drivers to finish their routes before peak afternoon temperatures.

Waste Management announced residential customers around Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish should expect pickups to arrive up to one hour earlier through the end of the week as the latest forecasts show temperatures surpassing 90 degrees every day through Friday.

"Due to heat advisories your service may start one hour earlier for driver safety," Waste Management wrote Monday. "This will reduce the potential for heat-related illnesses by allowing drivers to complete service before late afternoon โ€“ the hottest time of the day. To ensure service, please place carts at the curb by 6 a.m. or the night before your service day."
