Work on 6th Street has been ongoing for years. Repaving of a mile-long stretch is the final phase.

KIRKLAND, WA โ€” The final phase of an overhaul of 6th Street South in Kirkland will begin soon, wrapping up a project that dates back to 2015.

Beginning in early August, crews will repave a mile-long stretch between Northeast 68th Street and near Central Way. Drivers and pedestrians will encounter the work between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during daylight hours, and between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. at night. There will be flaggers on site to reroute traffic when necessary.

The first part of the work will include replacing manhole covers and rebuilding curbs. Crews will also install a four-way signal light at 9th Avenue.
