'Energy Smart Eastside' Offers Residents Discounts, Rebates
Residents in five Eastside cities will soon qualify for incentives to install more efficient heating and cooling systems.
KIRKLAND, WA โ Five Eastside cities are participating in a new initiative to help neighbors install more energy-efficient heating and cooling systems at a discount, while at the same time lowering their monthly utility bills.
The "Energy Smart Eastside" campaign extends to residents of Kirkland, Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island and Redmond, offering discounts on installation, low-rate financing and rebates to all residents and property owners.
โThe Energy Smart Eastside campaign is a great opportunity for Kirkland residents to provide heating and cooling for their homes while also being energy efficient,โ said Kirkland City Councilmember Kelli Curtis in a statement Tuesday. โThis technology is just one step community members can take towards going all-electric and at the same time, help lessen the impacts of climate change.โ

According to officials, the campaign offers neighbors a chance to buy heat pumps at a lower price point, which are more efficient at both heating and cooling, along with installation options that are at least $500 lower than normal. Puget Sound Energy customers can also qualify for extra cash incentives to make the switch from traditional electrical heat sources.
Residents in the five cities can attend one of five free online workshops scheduled between July and September to learn more about how the devices work, ask questions and receive their discounts.
