โ€œWe are thrilled Woodinville is one of the schools selected for this unique fundraising concert experience,โ€ Rengstorf said in a news release. โ€œThe funds created through Derikโ€™s concert will help support our students through funds raised for supplies for drama productions, new music uniforms, sheet music for our students, and band and orchestra instrument repairs.โ€ย

This concert is part of Derik Nelsonโ€™s โ€œTake Chances Tour,โ€ providing high schools across the West Coast the opportunity to raise thousands of dollars through ticket sales for his full-band live pop/rock concerts.ย ย

โ€œMy brother, sister, and I grew up in public school,โ€ Nelson said.ย โ€œWe are passionate about the arts, music, and about giving back and we see the budget cuts really affecting these schools. We wanted an out-of-the-box way for schools to fundraise,โ€ he continued.ย

The Take Chances Tour is scheduled to reach at least 30 schools across the West Coast, and all schools are expected to earn $2,000 to $10,000 through the program. Nelson and his team also provide a free educational masterclass assembly to students at the school during the day about career opportunities in the arts.

โ€œI want a way to reach my fans, and I want to make a difference in arts & music education. ย Itโ€™s a win/win,โ€ Nelson smiles.ย
