Holiday Lights Contest Returns To Kirkland For A 2nd Year
Kirkland neighbors have until next week to submit entries for top honors in the second annual holiday lights contest.

KIRKLAND, WA โ Seasonal bragging rights are on the line in Kirkland this month as the city brings back its holiday lights contest for another year. The second annual event is open to all Kirkland households, but photos of the decorations are due to the judges before the end of next week.
Here are the rules from the city:
- Entries are open to Kirkland residents only.
- Decorations must be visible from the driveway.
- Decorations must be lit up on Dec. 14 for judging.
- Participants' addresses will be listed on the Holiday Lights map.
- Registrations close on Dec. 6 and submissions are due Dec. 9 by 5 p.m.
- Winners will hear from the city on Dec. 16 and the city will announce them on the Kirkland Parks Facebook page.
- The top three winners will get victory yard signs to display.
Registered homeowners will need to submit a photo of their decorations via e-mail by 5 p.m. on Dec. 9. The panel of judges will review submissions the following days, then drive past the top 10 homes for in-person viewing on Dec. 14.

The community lights contest is part of the broader Light Up Kirkland celebration, which takes place on Sunday, Dec. 12.
