Juanita Beach Closed Until At Least July 28

Elevated bacteria levels on the eastern shore have Juanita Beach closed to swimmers again, for at least the next week.

KIRKLAND, WA โ€” Juanita Beach will be closed for at least a week after a routine water quality check found unacceptable levels of bacteria along its eastern shore. While such closures are far from uncommon at Juanita, the latest one makes for the second in just July.

Water quality teams with King County's Land Resources Division will return to the beach next week to collect new samples. If bacteria levels have fallen back below the threshold, the beach will reopen. Until then, people and their pets should avoid swimming, drinking, or otherwise coming into contact with water at the beach.

Closure signs are posted at the beach and lifeguards will be on-site to inform visitors of the issue. The latest updates and alerts for water quality at lake beaches are available on the King County website.
