Kangs Rally to Edge Rival Rebels in Extra Inning
Lake Washington held off a determined Juanita 8-7 in a wild game at Lee Johnson Field to stay atop the KingCo 3A Conference at 10-1.

Alac Wong hit a single in the top of the 8th inning to score Jeremy Parkhurst with the winning run as held off a determined team 8-7 in a wild baseball game Thursday night at in Kirkland.
Down 5-0, Lake Washington rallied for seven runs on the top of the sixth inning. But the crosstown rival Rebels scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings. Even after Wong put the Kangs up in the top of the eighth, Juanita put two men on base in the bottom of the inning with nobody out before the Kangs finished the game with a strikeout and a double play.
The narrow victory, a make-up game for a rain-out Wednesday, kept Lake Washington alone atop the KingCo 3A/2A Conference standings with 10 wins against one loss, 14-3 overall. Juanita played far better than its record might indicate, but dropped to 3-8 and 4-12
Wong finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with a triple and two runs batted. Outfielder Victor Mayorquin celebrated his 18th birthday by going 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. LW centerfielder Theo Alexander continued his torrid power hitting pace with a double and a triple for one RBI, going 2-for-5 at the plate.
Connor Rusch led the Rebels at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, triple and one RBI. Avery Britton drove in two runs in going 1-for-3. Danny Atkins went 2-for-5 with an RBI and Bradley Close finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
Both teams are back in play Friday night at Lee Johnson Field, Juanita taking on Bellevue at 4 p.m. and LW facing Interlake at 7:30 p.m.
