Kirkland Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested In California

Kirkland detectives tracked a domestic violence suspect to California, where deputies made an arrest over the weekend.

KIRKLAND, WA โ€” Kirkland detectives worked with investigators in California to arrest a person accused of domestic assault late last month. In a news release Tuesday, officials said the suspect hit a Kirkland resident with a vehicle in the parking lot of a store, then repeatedly made phone calls threatening to kill the victim and children.

The police department's domestic violence unit helped the victim find temporary safe housing and boosted patrols near their home while the search for the suspect continued. Investigators learned the suspect had fled the area and was in Bakersfield, Calif., and worked with out-of-state partners to pin down a location.

On Saturday, officials said the Tulare County Sheriff's Office successfully took the suspect into custody using a felony warrant issued in King County.
