Kirkland Lifts Boil Water Advisory

KIRKLAND, WA โ€” A boil water advisory that went into effect for several Kirkland neighborhoods Tuesday afternoon was lifted Thursday after tests found no indication of contamination, officials said.

The advisory went into effect for city water customers in several neighborhoods after a significant water main break temporarily decreased water pressure for a large portion of the city, prompting concerns that sediment could have entered the water system.

Now that the advisory has been lifted, the city recommends residents in the affected areas take a few simple steps to ensure fresh water flow:

  • Flush the plumbing in your home by running all cold-water faucets for at least 5 minutes each.
  • Flushing simply means letting the water run to ensure that there is fresh water flowing through your pipes.
  • Also flush all appliances connected to the water line like icemakers, water softeners, water dispenser for refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.
