KIRKLAND, WA โ€” Kirkland residents will have a chance early next month to give feedback on the city's future redevelopment of the Houghton Village Shopping Center. The city bought the property to serve the public and wants to hear ideas for the best way to use the parcel, including building new affordable housing, school facilities, nonprofit programs, or arts and cultural space.

The former shopping center is located at 10702 NE 68th Street, and city officials are hoping neighbors will weigh in on the best way to utilize a new public space.

"Redeveloping the Houghton Village Property offers the City a strategic opportunity to accomplish multiple important community benefits all within a walkable ten-minute neighborhood with frequent transit service," said Kirkland Deputy Mayor Jay Arnold. โ€œIt will enhance the vibrancy of our community by providing a mixture of options to live and work near neighborhood businesses and services. This is an exciting opportunity for community members to have their voices heard about how we might accomplish the Cityโ€™s goals for this space."
