Two Kirkland residents were seriously injured early Thursday morning when a car driven by one of them apparently ran a stop sign in Lynnwood and hit a power pole.

Snohomish County deputies say the driver, a 28-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 32-year-old man, were both trapped inside the car, a Toyota. They were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to a press release by the Snohomish County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

The crash occurred at about 2 a.m. at Cypress Way and 204th Street SW. The Toyota was the only car involved, at least in the crash

The investigation appeared to show the driver failed to stop at the sign and proceeded through the intersection before hitting the pole. Alcohol and/or speed have not been ruled out as possible factors. Snohomish County PUD was called out to repair downed power lines after the crash.
