Kirkland's '12Ks Of Christmas' Is Sunday: What To Know
Hundreds of runners will participate in 5K and 12K races this weekend, and drivers can expect several closures along the route.

KIRKLAND, WA โ The 12Ks of Christmas comes to Kirkland's Marina Park on Sunday, where organizers are expecting up to 1,500 runners and walkers. The course begins and ends at the park, taking runners decked out in holiday gear along Lake Washington and through Houghton Beach Park before looping back up through the Feriton and Everest neighborhoods.
For the 12K, the first wave begins at 9 a.m., followed by a second wave 10 minutes later. 5K runners are scheduled to start at 9:25 a.m.
The event will impact area roads starting around 9 a.m., with most ending by 11:30 a.m., or when the last runner clears the area.

Here are the closure details from the city:
- Lakeshore Plaza and Kirkland Avenue between the City dock and Lake Street from 5:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
- Southbound Lake Street/Lake Street S from Central Way to 7th Avenue S from 8:45 until 9:45 a.m.
- Marina Park boat launch from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m.
- Kirkland Avenue between Lake Street and Main Street from 9:15 until 10:00 a.m.
- Eastbound Kirkland Avenue from Main Street to 9th Street from 9:15 until 10:00 a.m.
- Southbound Market Street from 13th Avenue to Central Way from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Eastbound 12th Avenue from 6th Street to 110th Avenue NE from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Northbound 110th Avenue from 12th Avenue to NE 96th Street from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- 6th Street between 12th Avenue and 10th Avenue from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Westbound 10th Avenue from 6th Street to Market Street from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
A few spots are still available for registration until Dec. 10, and funds raised will support the Lake Washington High School Booster Club.
