KIRKLAND, WA โ€” Hundreds of people are expected to run, walk and stroll at Kirkland's Marina Park this weekend for the Valentine's Day Dash. City officials are expecting more than 500 people at the event, which will leave nearby roads and portions of Kirkland Avenue closed until mid-morning.

Here are the closures planned for Kirkland Avenue:

  • Kirkland Avenue between the City dock and Lake Street from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
  • Eastbound Kirkland Avenue between Lake Street and State Street from 9 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m.

Proceeds from the 5K and Kids Dash benefit Alexander's Hope, and organizers said dogs and strollers are more than welcome on the course. The race starts and ends at Marina Park, with a portion of the route along the water. Participants can also win prizes and medals.
