KPD Blotter: Semiauto Pistol, Ammo, Camera Stolen in Market Area Burglary

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of July 5-8. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

July 5

• A 5.7mm semiautomatic pistol, ammunition and a high-end Nikon digital SLR camera were stolen in a burglary at the home of a 46-year-old man who lives on 10th Avenue West in the Market neighborhood. It happened between 8 a.m. July 4 and 10 a.m. July 5. There was no sign of forced entry, but a bedroom window had been left unlocked. Neighbors could not provide information on a suspect, but police did lift a possible fingerprint.

July 6

• Caught inside a vehicle he had apparently tried to steal by the car’s owner, a 16-year-old resident of the 132nd Square area near Kingsgate was arrested for motor vehicle theft. The owner, a 19-year-old neighbor, apparently caught the teen inside the running Acura Integra just after midnight with the help of his 29-year-old brother. The brothers held the teen in the car until police arrived.

• Police arrested a 41-year-old Finn Hill man on charges of domestic violence and stalking his 39-year-old ex-girlfriend, a Juanita resident. The arrest took place on 98th Ave NE in Juanita, apparently while the man was driving his 2006 Mercedes Benz at about 5:14 p.m. The report also alleged the suspect cyber-stalked the victim.

July 7

• Apparently caught in the act of breaking into an espresso stand on Market Street at about 2:15 a.m., a 23-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on a burglary charge. He had used an L-shaped wrench to break a window in the stand, which is operated by a 30-year-old Monroe woman. A 24-year-old Kirkland woman was listed as a witness.

• Construction equipment worth between $3,000 and $4,000 was stolen from a locked shipping storage container that was broken into overnight at the construction site at NE 116th and Interstate 405 in the Totem Lake area. The thief used a “saws-all” tool to cut the locking mechanism on the box sometime overnight. It was the second time tools had been stolen from the site, and taken this time were a pressure washer, two chainsaws and a pipe saw. Police checked video surveillance but found no clues and have no suspects.

• Police were called after a 13-year-old female patient assaulted three staff members at the Fairfax Behavioral Hospital in north Juanita. The girl was arrested on a third-degree assault charge and taken to the King County Youth Center in Seattle.

July 8

• A power painter, tires, propane tank, 5-gallon gas can, leaf blower and pressure washer were stolen from the garage and shed of a residence on Holmes Point Drive in the Finn Fill area sometime between July 1-8. The victim was the 48-year-old resident.

• A 27-year-old Kirkland man punctured a volleyball belonging to a 20-year-old Bellevue woman at Juanita Beach around 5:45 p.m., but paid for the damage after police arrived. There was no other description in the report of the incident, listed as malicious mischief, but two witnesses were mentioned, a 26-year-old Bellevue woman and a 30-year-old Bothell man.
