Letter: McCravey Will Make Education Reforms McAuliffe Has Blocked

Dear Editor,

In my opinion, our current Senator, 20 year incumbent Rosemary McAuliffe, has blocked education reform and stands for the WEA (Washington Education Association) --NOT our children. It is my understanding that under Rosemary the achievement gap has grown and is continuing to grow.  She has had her chance for the last 30 years and has failed.

She talks a lot of political talk, but we need action to open up the high tech career paths for thousands of open jobs in our Seattle area; businesses like Microsoft, Amazon, Netflix, and Boeing.  To do this, we need change in Olympia.

Why does the WEA choke when our local high tech leaders tell us that our education system in Washington is just not cutting it? We are fortunate for these leaders support in things such as education reform. They want to see their businesses succeed - for that to happen they need a top quality, educated workforce.

Unfortunately, I believe we currently spend more per student and get worse results than most first world countries.  This, to me, shows that Rosemary is either unable or unwilling to make the necessary changes that are required to properly educate our students. Rosemary, as a tool of the WEA, has blocked real reform from even being heard before her committee. Both major area newspapers, the Seattle Times and Everett Herald, conducted in-depth interviews of both candidates, and have chosen to endorse Dawn McCravey over the incumbent, Rosemary McAuliffe. 

I know where I am voting:  Yes for change, Yes for Dawn McCravey! No to Roadblock Rosemary!
