KIRKLAND, WA โ€” Work is underway on a new section of the Eastrail, which will connect the Cross Kirkland Corridor with the Sammamish River Trail, linking the trail network between Kirkland and Woodinville.

King County Parks said the Eastrail's Valley Segment is on track to open this summer. Once complete, the new section will continue the trail north from the Cross Kirkland Corridor to Northeast 145th Street in Woodinville, near the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery.

According to the county, the project was initially slated for completion late last year, but had to be delayed due to weather and permitting issues. Crews began laying gravel in the winter and officials anticipate they will be able to complete asphalt work over the spring. On the Woodinville side, the city will build a new trail crossing with signals, linking to the Sammamish River Trail.
