Track the Cross Kirkland Corridor Rail Removal Progress

Rail and tie removal work is well under way and the city is posting daily progress maps throughout the project.

In late August 2013, work began to remove and salvage the rail and other materials along the Corridor.ย  This workย is expected to be completed in October 2013 so thatย ย construction of the Interim Trailcan beginย in early 2014.ย ย Daily progress reports will be posted to the city's projectย site during the rail removal. ย

Theย Cross Kirkland Corridorย is a 5.75 mile segment of the 42-mile Eastside Rail Corridor. The Eastside Rail Corridor runs from Renton, WA to Snohomish, WA. The City purchased the Cross Kirkland Corridor from theย Port of Seattleย in April 2012. In August 2012, the Port of Seattle approved the sale of portions of the Eastside Rail Corridor to King County and in December 2012, the Kingย County Council unanimously voted to purchase a 15.6-mile portion of the Eastside Rail Corridor.ย In 2010, the City of Redmond purchased aย "spur" within its city limits (Redmond Central Connector) and King County is interested in developing the corridor as dual-use.ย
