Volunteer EMTs Once Again Serving at Finn Hill's Fire Station 24

Volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians are once again serving at Finn Hill Fire Station 24, which had been left unstaffed since Jan. 1 after the City of Kirkland decided to end its reserve EMT program to cut costs.
The city late in January reversed its decision to unstaff the station after concerns by local residents that emergency response times would be increased and many of the reserve EMTs offered to serve on a completely volunteer basis. Previously they had been given a monthly stipend.
Now 16 volunteer certified EMTs are again staffing the station from nightly 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., responding with professional firefighters from nearby stations to emergencies in the north Finn Hill area.
The station is at 8411 NE 141 Street on Finn Hill, near .
While on shift, the volunteer EMTs can provide free blood pressure checks. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Fire Department can find an application online at www.kirklandwa.gov/volunteer, by emailing volunteer@kirklandwa.gov, or by calling 425-587-3012.
