The organizers of Kirklandโs first-ever SummerFest are putting out a call for volunteers to help with the free community event Aug. 10-11 focusing on music, art, kidsโ activities, food and drink.
The festival, at downtown, begins Friday evening, Aug. 10, with a free production of The Winterโs Tale, by Seattle Shakespeare Company, food trucks, and a Beer and Wine garden. On Saturday, Aug. 11, it will feature a Kids Corner (including inflatable games, story time, Touch a Truck, and other activities), live music on four stages, Art in the Park (including plein aire artists, a sculpture garden, and youth art exhibit), a Beer & Wine garden, and 18 gourmet food trucks.
Also, the Kirkland Rotary Club has moved its annual โDuck Dashโ fundraising event from it traditional running on Fourth of July to SummerFest, on Aug. 11.
Volunteers are needed for 3- to 4-hour shifts starting at 10 a.m. and through the day for the Kids Corner, Art in the Park, Hospitality and Information Booths, Recycling Education, Music Volunteers and more. If you can help, please contact Julie Metteer, SummerFest Volunteer Coordinator at julie@metteer.com or 425-890-0959.
