Volunteers Needed for Fourth of July Festivities

Penny Sweet, Kirkland City Council member and chair of Celebrate Kirkland, is putting out an urgent plea for volunteers to help out before, during and after the city's Fourth of July celebration next week.

The festivities, all centered around , include a kids' parade (11:30 a.m.), old-fashioned patriotic parade (noon), music in the park (3-10 p.m.) and the annual fireworks show (10:15 p.m.).

Celebrate Kirkland is the non-profit group that organizes and raises funds for the Fourth of July festivities, which are celebrated independently from the city of Kirkland, except for a one-time special allocation .

ALL HANDS ON DECK! THE 4^TH OF JULY IS JUST 8 DAYS AWAY AND WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THESE VERY IMPORTANT ROLES.  PLEASE CONSIDER STEPPING UP!  And PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND EMAIL LISTS.

SUNDAY JULY 1 – We still need volunteers (WITH TRUCKS IF POSSIBLE!) to put out the Barricades for the parade and staging areas.  It doesn’t take long if we work fast and it is a fabulous workout.

Join us in the Marina Park Auxilliary parking lot from 11:30 until 100

 WEDNESDAY JULY 4,  We still need parade monitors.  Help us keep things flowing in the parade, keep our kids safe and have the best seat in the city for the Parade.  This is one of our most fun and most important opportunities.  Check in at the at 9:30.  On the route from 10:00AM to 1:00 PM.

WEDNESDAY JULY 4,  We need 5 trucks, 5 drivers and 5 picker uppers to quickly grab all of the barricades and take them to Marina Park.  It takes less than an hour if we have enough folks helping and makes clean up so much easier the next day.

THURSDAY JULY 5,  Why is this one so hard to fill?  Sure it’s the day after and it was a late night but what a tremendous difference it makes getting Marina Park and the parade route cleaned up and  good to go.  Meet at The Grape Choice for coffee and donuts and work from 8:00 to 9:30.
