Wind Advisory Issued for Kirkland, Region

A vigorous frontal system will bring windy conditions to the lowlands of Western Washington, mostly in the eastern foothills, this afternoon through this evening, prompting a wind advisory from noon Tuesday through midnight by the National Weather Service in Seattle.

Local sustained winds of 30-35 mph and gusts of 45-50 mph are likely in some areas, although the forecast for Kirkland shows winds probably won't be that strong here.

Winds are expected to increase Tuesday morning and reach their peak in the afternoon and evening, the NWS said. While winds of this strength should not cause widespread damage, they can bring down small trees and branches causing local power outages.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30-39 mph or gusts of 45-57 mph are likely.
